Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Can I drop off/pick up during off hours?

A:  No, I cannot be flexible with business hours at this time. I do understand that the hours are not convenient for everyone. TLC is a very small, owner-operated business and does not have staff-members. Caring for your babies requires several hours of care, cleaning, walking etc between 6am and 9pm for 365 days per year. In addition, I field calls, emails and text messages at all hours of the day to ensure you are provided with the updates and information you need. If I hire staff to be available for extended hours business costs increase substantially which would lead to a large increase in prices and it is important to me that my care is not only exceptional but affordable for my clients.

Q: What if I’m running late for drop off/pick up? Will you wait for me?

A: Please let me know if you are running late or as soon as you know are unable to keep your appointment. Unfortunately, I can only wait for 5-10 minutes for you and then need to close. If you will not make it on time to pick up, just let me know you can always extend your dog’s stay to the next pick up time convenient for you.

Q:  Can my dog stay even if they don’t have their rabies, distemper and bordetella shots?

A:  Unfortunately, no (in most cases).  There are some situations, like young puppies or dogs with certain health issues for example, that are unable to get certain shots.  In situations like this exceptions can be made.  If your dog does require a bordetella shot, you will want to ensure they receive it at least 2 weeks prior to their stay to get the most benefit from the protection.  It’s worth noting that bordetella shots do not guarantee protection, they simply limit the chances of getting it if exposed.

Q:  Do I need to bring my dog’s food with me during their stay?

A:  Yes.  I do not want to cause stomach upset by changing your dog’s diet abruptly. Not only do you want to make sure they have enough food for their stay, but you will also want to include enough food for an extra day or two just in case you get delayed picking up.  Dogs often spill their food as well so it is always good to provide extra.

*Please keep in mind I will need to charge an additional $5 per day to feed your dog if you do not provide enough food.

Q:  Do I need to bring my dog’s dishes?

A:  No.  I have plenty of stainless steel water and food bowls. I have slow-feeders as well if needed.

Q:  Do I need to bring my dog’s leash?

A:  Yes.  Although I will likely use our own leashes during walk time, you should arrive and leave with your dog on a leash so I can keep it here for you while you’re gone and be sure to return it when you pick up.

Q:  Does my dog get personal attention?

A:  Yes!  My priority when caring for your dogs is not quantity, it’s quality!  Every dog that stays here receives personal attention.  I walk every dog 2-4 times a day during their stay & they also spend time in the outdoor portion of their rooms while I clean and work outside as long as the weather is comfortable.

Q:  Do you let the dogs play together?

No. Only dogs who live together are allowed physical contact and even they are monitored very closely.

Q:  We have two dogs, can they share the same room?

A:  Dogs are happier in rooms side-by-side and for safety reasons I do not put 2 dogs over 40 pounds in the same room. You might be surprised to learn that your dog’s behavior during boarding can often vary significantly from their behavior at home.  This is not uncommon when they enter into the more confined space of their ‘room.’  At home, if one dog is annoyed with the other, they generally have enough space to find peace, but in a small room, they don’t have this luxury.
